A year and a half away. Why am I so upset?
I know how you're feeling, honey. My boyfriend and I are going to college together in New York State, but after next semester he is taking an internship that will probably lead to a job offer in Florida. I can't think of many things that are scarier than the end of this semester. My guy is the shy nerdy type too, and I can't help but worry about him being all that way away from me and his family all on his own. You and I both have to trust the men we are with to be loyal and trust ourselves to be the same. If you two are truly meant to be together, you will find a way to make it work. A lot can change in a year and a half, too. Your boyfriend may decide to saty put in the country where you are to get at least his preliminary schooling, or you may find a great opportunity to go to school for exactly what you want to in the States. Cherish the time that you two have together, and remember there are ALWAYS ways that you can stay close. Get micraphones and web cams, send video emails, make a committment to talk as often as you can, do anything you can think of that will help. One more story: A friend of mine fell in love with a German guy who was studying at our college over a year ago. He went back to Germany after one semester, but they still talk often, and she went to Germany to stay with him over the summer, and he is here during his winter break. They're engaged and plan on getting married as soon as they're done with school. Love can always find a way!
