Samsung Reclaim issue with long distance carrier?

I had a Reclaim for a day but had to exchange it for an LG. I really like the Reclaim but here was my issue. I use a different carrier for long distance, so in my contact list, I would enter 555-5555p555-555-5555, the first 7 digits being the LD carrier, the p for hard pause, then the #. No matter who was calling or who I was calling, it always showed the first entry in my contact list who was long distance! So if Archie was my first contact, but Zelda was calling, it said Archie in the display but showed Zelda's #. The same was true if I was calling Zelda... Archie's name would be in the display. I thought one way around it was to take out the LD carrier number, and just prepend it. A pain but workable... except when I prepend, it won't allow for a pause, and I need that to get the 2nd dial tone. No one at the store (I was there an hour and a half), could find out why, and since the cell plans here are 30 days or 30 minutes!!! if you wish to return a phone, I had no option but to get a different brand. Anyone have any ideas??? I'd really like to get my Reclaim back. Thanks!
